Creation of Amouage Guidance Perfume

It’s really interesting to me that most of the unfavorable reviews of Guidance find it to be body odorous or cumin-y, because my first impression of this fragrance was that kind of hand soap in the public restroom at like… an interstate rest area. I found it really cloying and off putting. I believe this is the pear note manifesting in a way that is really not what I hoped for.Eventually, this industrial-supply-cheap hand soap note tones down and the floral heart and resinous-musky-vanilla heart becomes more appreciable. Still, though, I find this to be a bit cloying and I can continue to pick up the hand soap note. But theres something undeniably alluring about Guidance. I feel like I will need to spend more time with it before I can really make my mind up about it.

I really wanted to love this because some say if you love PDM Delina Ex you'll love this, but that wasn't the case for me sadly. It opens with a strong saffron-forward scent with a warm spice and unmistakable Amouage depth. It is creamy and enveloping with a noticeable balsamic and resinous warmth. For me personally, it is too saffron heavy and slightly sickly on my skin. For me it is too overpowering rather than elegant. However, I can see how well executed this is and why it is a favourite for so many people.

I fell in love with this as soon as I smelled it. It’s such a beautiful unique fragrance than envelopes you. Clean and fruity with woody and nutty undertones.Very elegant and I don’t think it’s as overpowering as everyone says- I find it quite subtle and demure (maybe I’m nose blind).It smells like being in a very expensive resort in the Middle East in the summer. It’s just super luxurious and the price reflects that.

I thought it was good, wife thinks it smells like vomit.
