Deep Current : Our Creation of Megamare by Orto Parisi is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for women and men, launched in 2019 and crafted by perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri. This bold and immersive scent opens with a zesty wave of bergamot and lemon, evoking the freshness of sea air. The heart dives deep into marine territory with salty seaweed, airy calone, and radiant hedione, capturing the vast, untamed spirit of the ocean. Anchoring the composition, the base of musk, ambroxan, and cedar leaves a lasting impression of clean sensuality and coastal mystique.
I reviewed this last year and upon rereading my review I realised that I shouldn't write reviews at 4am. Typos galore. So, when I first sampled Megamare, I over sprayed and the weather was cold. This, for sure, isn't really a cold weather scent. I fucking love Megamare, it's salty and ozonic, and powerful without being obnoxious; however, I've received mixed reviews. Naturally. Which is fine. It's fine! This is unapologetically Alessandro Gualtieri in the best way. Mad genius and a trend-setter. It's great to have a beach, sea, summer scent that isn't necessarily a blue fragrance. Something different, a new take on fresh.
It's honestly very good. Idk do I need to talk about the performance if you make this your daily scent, you basically become Megamare. Even your sheets and pillow start smelling like it.As for the scent, it really reminds me of a moss-covered ship drifting in a dark ocean. But putting the artistic side aside, it can also be described as a dusty-marine mix. Definitely not blind buy safe.
SMELL:Smells really dark, mysterous, scary in a way. I saw in the comments someone wrote it gave them the feeling of drowning in a dark ocean at night and i must say they are not exaggerating. It smells salty, floral, pungent, i also smell a weird liqorice note in the background and from time to time it gives off a rotten smell vibe which i kinda like. My girlfriend is repulsed by this fragrance but i kinda like it. But honestly - i dont see an occasion where i could wear this without getting weird looks. It really is polarizing so its more of an art creation rather than a "beach frag" so be cautious. And try it first before buying!!!LONGEVITY AND SILLAGE:If you are skeptical about the longevity and sillage like i was, let me just put it this way - without exaggeration - this stuff is nuclear. I sprayed half a spray on a sheet of paper to avoid getting it on my fingers. It penetrates your nostrils and airways instantly. Once you smell this i guarantee you this will be the only thing you will be smelling for the next couple of hours. If you are as unlucky as me and accidentally sprayed the sample all over your table, well... you are going to have a really hard time cleaning it off. It has been 6 days since i tested the sample, and i threw the remainder away including the sheet of paper, i also cleaned the table where i spilled the fragrance with 3 different cleaning products and it still there. I cant imagine how long it lasts if you put it on your skin.
This stuff is so damn good. For those looking for pineapple and sunscreen, you will need to look elsewhere. For those looking for a beautifully unique and powerful scent; here you go. This fragrance mimics the sea with its beauty, its power and its salty smell. I feel like I want to wear this every day. The initial spray is citrus forward, but within minutes it dries down to a salty, seaweed, oceanic scent. A near perfect fragrance. I would give it a 9.5/10.
One of the most polarizing scents I have ever tried - I love it! It's is all over the place, in a mostly good way. I got a 1ml sample of this during a very specific time of my life when I was deep into niche, artsy fragrance brands. To start, I love what Orto Parisi are doing concept wise. It's refreshing for a marine scent take on a 'sea monster' concept in contrast to the generic 'Italian riviera' vibe of every other major perfume. And it pulls it off quite well from the bottle to the scent itself. This thing develops from 'melon-y' as my colleague described it, to a salty freshness, to a very dark chemical scent. I love the first two phases, kinda hate the last. I've received a lot of attention wearing this, most of it positive, which is surprising for a scent this niche. The performance though... nuclear. One spray filled the entire office, so don't overdo it. Even though I had a positive experience with this, I BEG of you do NOT blind buy. Like every other Orto Parisi frag, it won't be for everyone, but I do think this is more accessible than the rest of their line.
